Exam Policy
If training was not from a CACHE accredited school, applicants will be asked to submit documentation detailing curriculum and scope of examination from their training institute, as well as successfully complete a CACHE entrance exam. The completed exam must meet established criteria for approval. Should the applicant be unsuccessful in the first taking of the exam, provided they have demonstrated a basic understanding of hypnotherapy, they will be supplied with remedial material focusing on the area requiring improvement at a reasonable cost. They will then have 60 days to retake the exam.
If, on the second taking of the exam, it is determined that the exam still does not successfully meet CACHE criteria, the candidate’s application will be reviewed by the Board on a case by case basis to determine eligibility for membership. The exam will be adjudicated by an ad-hoc committee of 2 CACHE members and 1 member of the Board.
Continuing Membership
For continuing membership, each member will be required to complete documentation annually of ongoing supervision and continuing education, as well as proof of current insurance. Each year CACHE will randomly choose five members to audit. Please ensure that you are keeping up with and documenting your supervision and education hours.
Supervision
A CACHE member must complete a minimum of 10 hours supervision per year.
Supervision must be comprised of a variety of the following:
- Attendance at check-ins,
- Evening supervisions or CACHE Cafés,
- CACHE Book Club,
- Approved facilitated workshops,
- Working with an approved qualified mentor with a minimum of 3 years hypnotherapy experience, or an accredited counselor with 1 year hypnotherapy experience, who is also a member of CACHE.
Continuing Education
12 hours per year of continuing education is required and may be comprised of the following:
- Reading hypnotherapy related books (20 pages equals 1 hour),
- Hypnotherapy related videos,
- Attendance at courses, either in person or on-line,
- Approved study group or hypnotherapy club activities.
