CANADIAN ASSOCIATION OF COUNSELLING HYPNOTHERAPISTS AND EDUCATORS

Volume 1 December 2024

Reminder Notice on Membership Renewals:

Over the past year, we have been working to transition to a biannual renewal process. Crystal has nearly completed the updates, and we would like to outline how the new process works:

Starting November 1, we will launch our new renewal process. Members whose last renewal was over a year ago will begin receiving renewal emails starting in mid-October. Upon renewal, each member will receive a membership card annually, which will include their renewal date.

If you have renewed your membership on or after November 1, 2023, your membership is active, and your next renewal will be on May 1, 2025.

As part of this transition, all members will also receive a general membership certificate, indicating their membership level with CACHE.

Thank you: CACHE Registrar / Membership Coordinators

Message from the Board of Directors

Dear Members,

Wild Apricot Platform

We are excited to say the Wild Apricot Platform is up and running with current and upcoming events, plus valuable information pertaining to CACHE as an association. Please take the time to go and review the new site and all that it has to offer you.  www.CACHECanada.com

Role of Supervisors for Supervisions

It has come to our attention that members, and new members, may misconstrue the intent and objectives of what we have historically called our “supervision” sessions. In other professions, the professional members often MUST commit to individual supervision by more experienced professional members on a regular basis. CACHE’s supervision sessions are not of this nature and are not intended to “police” our members nor their activities. Rather, we trust our members, as professionals, to uphold to our policies on ethics and standards and in the renewing or upgrading of required certifications. Our twice monthly sessions are an opportunity for members to run questions, issues and suggestions past other members and more experienced hypnotherapists as a “peer” support. offering opportunities to improve our practices and services to our clients, and, not to be underestimated – to improve our services in support of each other.

In consideration of this distinction, the CACHE board is proposing that we change the name of our twice monthly sessions to “Peer Support” or “Peer Commentary” sessions, to better illustrate that our sessions are intended to:

·         support our members to enhance their practice techniques

·         improve their services, effectiveness and confidence for their                     clients and

·         to build rapport, mutual respect and connection with peer members

Please remember that CACHE is NOT a policing agency; it is a membership association. The ethics and standards which we attribute ourselves to, by membership, protect clients because of the standards of practice that we each aspire to by membership.  Our “peer support” sessions, commitment to continuing education, book and movie reviews, articles we write and education we strive to provide access to – all of these are intended to help our members build an effective practice that ultimately benefits clients.  Mutually supporting our members validity, confidence and effectiveness in the mental health realm is our primary motive for being a membership association.

Advanced Support

This Advanced Support program is designed for practicing hypnotherapists seeking peer-to-peer support at an advanced level.

It provides a supportive environment to discuss client concerns, ethical dilemmas, innovative ideas, and practice challenges with other CACHE hypnotherapists, all under the guidance of Advanced Support Coordinator, Meriah Pettersen, RCHt.

This program is not intended for those who are just beginning their practice or seeking guidance on the foundational aspects of building a practice.

Our goal in offering Advanced Support is to meet our members where they are in their professional journey, providing a safe and ethical space for peer support among practitioners at similar levels of experience, from intermediate to advanced.

Warm regards,
The CACHE Board of Directors

Monthly Book Club

Join Pete and Jason each month as they delve deep into the books we so love to read but maybe don't always find the time to analyze to their fullest.

January's up coming book is
Life Between Lives: Hypnotherapy for Spiritual Regression by Michael Newton, Ph.D.

February's book: Essentials of Hypnosis, 2nd Edition by Dr. Michael Yapko – This book explores how hypnosis is foundational to many modern integrative health practices and how modern neuroscience is learning from brain scanning studies of hypnotized individuals. It’s a great resource for gaining clinical insights into hypnotic methods.
